Here are some thoughts on Tutoring or any kind of “non-official education”
For instance learning photography when being taught by a photographer or being taught privately a language.
Or being tutored in any valued subject.

I’ve been enjoying my photo blogs so far. Why?
There are a couple of reasons I love Photo Blogs…
#1 - Better than photo upload sites
Eyefetch which I found to be the best photography sharing site (Sorry deviant art and photo.net) was going incredibly slow and those sites are better when you have a group of friends to make better comments thant “great job”
I love the idea behind photo sites such as these, but in practice haven’t found them all that worthwhile. (Not their fault perhaps) Guess I needed more friends
#2 I found it much easier to add pictures.
#3 I enjoy looking at other photographer’s blogs… and wouldn’t bother looking at other sites to see their pictures… primarily because I know they update them more often. Therefore it makes sense to do what I like to view myself.
#4 It sure is a lot easier to throw up a new post rather than update my website.
#5 I get to check my stats… and that’s half of the fun of having a website.
That’s why I chose wordpress - because they have statistics of who’s viewing and how they’re getting there.
#6 They let me host the blog on my own site… hopefully driving traffic to that domain. And letting me have final say and control. Or they have a place to host it for me. (I’ve done both)

Last monday I joined an FHE group to take pictures as they played waterbaloon volleyball. You can more or less see how the game is played through a couple of the pictures.
Other attractions at this FHE were a trampoline, Popsicles and of course an obligatory water balloon fight.

My ward played a game of giant twister. I joined for the fun and in my capacity as ward photographer took a few pictures.
For some of the time I let some other people use the camera and take some shots so I could eat some Ice Cream and play a couple games.
This was a while back but I just now got around to editing the pictures and putting them up.

Last week about this time I was in DC…
a day or so before that I was in North Carolina.
Every year over memorial day weekend hundreds of LDS Single Adults converge on the Outer Banks of NC (near Duck Beach) They rent beach houses for the weekend and play on the beach.
They come from all over but primarily DC. This year I met people that had come from NJ, DC, Utah, Connecticut and California to attend the event.
I didn’t know anyone but my sister… however I did have a good time taking some cool pictures.

So as the subtitle states: This isn’t the photoblog but it’s just as cool right?
On that note… I suppose I should start that up soon.
Why a Blog on photography? For the past little while I have enjoyed blogs by many good photographers specially those in the Utah area. I myself would much rather see their precise blogs of what they’ve been up to recently… up to the moment view of their progress and an insight into the market and what they’ve been doing, than comb through their online portfolios that are updated every blue moon.
For some reason it seems that often while their portfolios are rather plain the pictures on their blogs are beautiful and creative.
I also love hearing about their experiences doing the wedding, thoughts about the couple, thoughts about the area… perhaps they name the area and what they did to take the pictures.
There are also some photographers that share insights and strive to help others by sharing what they have already learned. I wholeheartedly believe that people should be activly engaged in sharing their talents with others. That’s why I love teaching photography (when the person really wants to).
So look forward to it coming soon!!!

Well I got a new toy for my camera.
A GPS unit that plugs into my Nikon D200.
Why does someone need a GPS for there camera? Well really you don’t.
For the nature of photography I pursue… I do. Read the rest of this entry »

Well for my birthday I gave my body a present and that was to exercise more.
I’m still skinny as I’ll always be I suppose… but I’ve got a little tummy and no stamina when running during a sports game.
So i’ve become the person that I used to make fun of… A runner. I was quite nice, because I love mornings and when I wake up early it’s nice to be out when no one else is out and about… the lighting in the early morning is amazing and I wish there was a way I could run with my camera… i think this might actually propel me to biking (Specially with the acquisition of my new GPS device for my camera)
I was out running again today (second time) and I really wished I had a camera… but I told myself “don’t worry it will be like this again tomorrow and the next day”
But I did get a really cool birthday cake. It was made in the shape of a camera complete with a roll of edible film that had 28exposures. I also got to go to the driving range… I brought my clubs from out of the basement and hope to make it to the course a bit more often than last year (which shouldn’t be so hard since I was in Europe)

I don’t know why I waited this long to get into the blogging thing.
I’ve been quite technical for the last couple of years and am up on what’s going on in the tech world.
I suppose I never just got to it.
I’m glad I did it… 3 minutes into the experience now and I know it’s gonna be good, and easy.
However I think I’m probably gonna have to divide the photo blog my personal (random thoughts and themes) blogg.
A photo blog is the main thing that pushed me into it.
I think it’s easier to see other photographers pictures when they put them in their blogs. Therefore I thought I’d do it myself.
