As a parent I have been trying to learn to say Yes. It is easy to say no to a request from a child. We get too busy, too protective and plain to apathetic. If I know how to say yes, my kids hopefully will understand more fully the importance of when I say no. My kids are still young, the oldest is 8. I can't say I am an expert or been through trying times, but at any age raising a family is not easy.
