Universal Healthcare = Pass the buck?

Are we passing the buck by making government take care of our neighbors?

Responsibilty going down the crapper because we pass the buck

I believe that we have lost our sense of responsibility and charity for others because we don’t believe it’s our duty to help others. (Over-Generalization)

Why take money out of my pocket and or rally around to help You get healthy in a time of need… when we can just feel better that the government will do it. (Sarcasm)

We’re loosing our sense of compasion and care for others all the while talking the talk about how compasionate we’re all supposed to be.

Some people seem to act like others are practically murderes because they don’t support present ideas of universal healthcare.
I’d like to take a moment for us to reflect on what kind of people that will make us when we think every solution like this can be solved by government intervention?
Are we passing the buck and not wanting to solve problems ourselves and impliment good ol’ fashion charity?

What’s going on here… I really am not sure… just asking the questions.

The government has proven itself.

I echo the sentiments stated by many others… It is my personal belief that a bureaucracy such as the US government will NOT do a good job and make sound decisions to provide Valuable and reliable health care.

It has proven itself that it doesn’t do a good job at the economy, nor at education and so far it’s screwed things up in the area of Health Care.

So why get everyone ever increasingly expensive healthcare if that health care is horrific.

So what are some possible solutions?

Well I’m sure many of you have your own ideas…
I’ll brainstorm for a moment

Develope a nation where healthcare is cheaper, more effective, drugs are less expensive, more people are encouraged to become doctors, healthy living is a thing of pride, good healthy food is cheap and everyone wants to eat it. Sickness is less.
Take a serious look at how insurance is screwing the healthcare system up.

Why charge cheap rates when it’s just the insurance companies paying for everything? (sarcasm)

There used to be more hospitals dedicated to helping people in need for free.

And more and more people abuse medications and take their kids to the hospital for every scuff or sniffle.

How many times did you go to the hospitals or doctors growing up? Now compare it to how many times you take your kids or see your neighbors going.

Would we be in this mess if prices for care didn’t sky-rocket like this.

Was it government intervention and insurance company policies that created this problem in the first place?
(So would more government would be a solution to a government created problem?)

Where’s the money

Where is that money going to come from? We’re broke! We need to cut tons of other government programs… we just don’t have the money as a nation for these programs they talk of.

One last argument

My argument is a question: I want to know why it is the duty of the US government to do universal health care?
I’m totally open to your answers and look forward to honestly learning something.

    It’s our Constitutional right….

  2. Scott Says:

That is a statement I’ve never heard before.

I wonder who else believes this, and why it is something that has yet to be implemented after 200+ yrs.

So Bob you answered the last question of the post… what about the others… i’d be interested to hear.

  3. Jayel Aheram Says:

Obama was correct in saying that the Constitution was a charter of negative rights. That is why Bob would be very wrong in claiming that “universal healthcare” is our Constitutional right.

But before we even begin to talk about what “positive” and “negative” rights are, let us just think about for a second what a “Constitutional right to universal healthcare” implies:

    1. That you have the right for the government to provide you with money to pay for your healthcare…
    2. Which means the government then has the right to tax income and property to provide for that service.
    3. The right for the government to tax people’s income means that an individual does not have the right to his property…
    4. Which means that the individual does not have the right to self-ownership.
    5. Losing one’s right to self-ownership means one does not have a right to his property, to his liberty, or to his life…
    6. Which means the government has the right to steal, to enslave, and to kill people.

That is what Universal Healthcare entails.

Thank you very much for this. No one is addressing the other side of the coin here. What about your doctors and nurses and all of those people who actually take care of you. The facilities you stay in? What do you think happens to them under Universal Healthcare? Does anyone want to take a stab at that question? How about what your healthcare is going to be like when it is paid for buy the government. Do you really think that your healthcare is going to be stellar? Hmmmmmmm
Lets just talk about Jayels comment about the government taxing those that actually PAY taxes. Don’t forget everyone that doesn’t still gets healthcare, you just pay more taxes to cover theirs. The government is already screwing the little guys out of business. Those little doctors who still take the time and care about you. The ones who spend more than 2 minutes talking to you and actually figuring out what is wrong with you. And the smaller facilities are not making it because the government just won’t let them. So if your ok with paying for yours and everyone else’s healthcare, and having less than mediocre healthcare if at all, because 3 days wait is a beautiful fantasy of how long you will wait to have a simple urine sample, go with it.

  4. Tim Harper Says:

Health care is a right? Umm… yeah, you have the right to provide healthcare for yourself.

  5. kyla Says:

    Bob,

    You are joking right? Sarcasm?

What about personal responsibility for your own health? Eating well, resting, exercise is strictly up to the individual. By each person taking care of himself physically and mentally so that one will be capable of helping others is the best way to care for the general welfare of the public. Not sit around and expect others and the ambiguous government to help and provide for you.

If everyone in the states felt it was someone else’s responsibility to care for them, then who would help who?

That post seems to be a gross misinterpretation of “general welfare”.

    AMERICA’S NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY!

It’s official. America and the World are now in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. A World EPIDEMIC with potential catastrophic consequences for ALL of the American people. The first PANDEMIC in 41 years. And WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES will have to face this PANDEMIC with the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed World.

STAND READY AMERICA TO SEIZE CONTROL OF YOUR NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

We spend over twice as much of our GDP on healthcare as any other country in the World. And Individual American spend about ten times as much out of pocket on healthcare as any other people in the World. All because of GREED! And the PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare system in America.

And while all this is going on, some members of congress seem mostly concern about how to protect the corporate PROFITS! of our GREED DRIVEN, PRIVATE FOR PROFIT NATIONAL DISGRACE. A PRIVATE FOR PROFIT DISGRACE that is in fact, totally valueless to the public health. And a detriment to national security, public safety, and the public health.

Progressive democrats and others should stand firm in their demand for a robust public option for all Americans, with all of the minimum requirements progressive democrats demanded. If congress can not pass a robust public option with at least 51 votes and all robust minimum requirements, congress should immediately move to scrap healthcare reform and demand that President Obama declare a state of NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EMERGENCY! Seizing and replacing all PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance plans with the immediate implementation of National Healthcare for all Americans under the provisions of HR676 (A Single-payer National Healthcare Plan For All).

Coverage can begin immediately through our current medicare system. With immediate expansion through recruitment of displaced workers from the canceled private sector insurance industry. Funding can also begin immediately by substitution of payroll deductions for private insurance plans with payroll deductions for the national healthcare plan. This is what the vast majority of the American people want. And this is what all objective experts unanimously agree would be the best, and most cost effective for the American people and our economy.

In Mexico on average people who received medical care for A-H1N1 (Swine Flu) with in 3 days survived. People who did not receive medical care until 7 days or more died. This has been the same results in the US. But 50 million Americans don’t even have any healthcare coverage. And at least 200 million of you with insurance could not get in to see your private insurance plans doctors in 2 or 3 days, even if your life depended on it. WHICH IT DOES!

Contact congress and your representatives NOW! AND SPREAD THE WORD!

    God Bless You
